     Lynchburg Beacon of Hope, a nonprofit organization, and the Lynchburg Art Club have partnered together for an event known as the Art for Achievement. 

     According to the Lynchburg Art Club website, Art for Achievement will be held on Saturday, Nov. 9, 2019 from 6:00- 9:00 p.m. at the Virginian Hotel.

On Wednesday, Nov. 6, Lynchburg’s Sketch Society will be meeting from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Riverviews Co-Op Gallery, according to Downtown Lynchburg Association website.

     According to Stephen Kissel, the education and media manager at Riverviews Artspace and a graduate from Lynchburg College, “Sketch Society is an event here at Riverviews Artspace that gathers local artists in a casual, social setting. We welcome everyone to bring in their favorite materials and work on any of their projects while networking with others.”

Wicked WarehouseThe Academy Center of the Arts will be hosting its first ever Wicked Warehouse on Saturday, October 27, 2018, from 8:30 P.M. to 12:00 A.M.

Director of Communications and Marketing for The Academy Center of the Arts, Brittany Griffith, said, “This is the first year we are hosting the Wicked Warehouse event. The location of the event is the Joy & Lynch Warehouse Theatre, located in Downtown Lynchburg at 519 Commerce St. The Warehouse hosts standing room concerts similar to these as well as theatrical shows throughout the year.”

Take Me to the Ice Cream Shop

With one ice cream shop in downtown Lynchburg closing, another is ready and willing to step into its place.

MayLynn’s Creamery has been a longtime staple of the Boonsboro Shopping Center, where the food truck has operated for six years. With the closing of Ice Cream Dream, which was open for a year-and-a-half, MayLynn’s owners Becky and Josh Kirk were able to seize the opportunity to expand into the downtown area. Read more

Everyday is Halloween

The Lynchburg Gothic League is bringing Everyday is Halloween: The Dark Side of the 80s back to downtown Lynchburg. Everyday is Halloween is an all-ages DJ night held once a month that focuses on old-school gothic rock, punk rock and 80s new wave.

The first DJ night will be held Friday, October 20 at Fifth Street Grind. Local mortician Patrick Hubble (DJ Undertaker) will not only be performing, but is the man that worked to bring this event back after a several year hiatus. Read more
